People say it wouldn’t happen twice in one family. They were wrong. My name is Anna Ciavarella, and for so long, I have withheld my past. Hurt by my loved ones. Abandoned by the man I thought was my partner in crime. Deserted by my son, whom I never thought I would bury. The two men who held a piece of my heart and forever will, had left me due to suicide.
I was left with a sense of blame and guilt. Embarrassed to share and open up. But the time has come to finally speak out, share my story. Share how one builds resilience, how there is more to life than you think and how your actions impact those around you.
Suicide is not the answer.
If my story can shed some light on another, inspire another to take a different direction, to see the effects their actions can have on the ones left behind, maybe it will help them on their journey.
I hope my story shows you the power of resilience, the importance of communication, the significance of love, the strength a family bond can have, and the human strength we can draw on when times get tough.
