Honestly loving this book! It really does open up perspective of what a girl can go through!

Lauren remembers getting out of bed every morning with a growing hate towards herself. She hated the way she looked. She hated the way she felt. She hated the person she was. Constantly comparing herself to social media influencers and models she wanted to become so badly. Wishing she was someone else. Anyone else but her. Lauren showed signs of Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Anorexia, depression and was clinically diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries (PCOS). As a repercussion, she is currently battling an undefined chronic illness. The battle she had with herself was all self-inflicted.

'I had created this life for myself. I never understood why I continued to critique my body. Why I was never happy with it. Why I refused to eat and why it was so important to be ‘skinny’. It stemmed from somewhere.'

We are not born with these thoughts. Along our journeys, something has happened which has led to many females becoming so self-conscious and so fixated on achieving that ‘perfect body’. But guess what? That perfect body is different for everyone—That perfect body does not mean we must starve ourselves—That perfect body is not found on social media.

A Journey to Health was created to inspire and motivate females. To let them know that body issues can affect anyone. It doesn’t matter if you are a model, an athlete, a professional or a student. These issues can creep up and cause a profound impact on your life. This book enables females to ignite that spark and let them know that there is a way out of this toxic cycle.  Self-love is key to giving us the strength. Once you find that inner power from within, you can escape this journey before it starts controlling your life.

The moment we truly accept who we are, the moment our lives change. The ease will come, and happiness will follow.

A body does not define you.

Self love is important

I'm loving this book, I myself haven't picked up a book in a while to read and I'm glad I can finally get into a fantastic book, I'm so grateful I can experience the opportunity to understand what others go through on their own health journey, because I know I'm not alone. It's definitely a good recommendation for anyone who's interested in these types of books, even if you love the body your in. Self love is important and should be a main focus in life.

Author's new book receives a warm literary welcome

A Journey to Health by Lauren Minicozzi is an engaging book that addresses the issue of having that perfect body and gives glimpses of the author's journey that will empower youngsters to look beyond their bodies. The author speaks about her struggles with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, anorexia, and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and her current battle with a chronic illness. The book is a good tool for readers to help them change the way they look at themselves and get out of the dark cycle of trying to reshape their bodies. A Journey to Health reaches out to youngsters who are starving themselves to achieve that perfect body and get stuck in a toxic cycle from which they cannot escape. The author's personal experiences make it easy for readers to connect with her words and follow the processes she used so that they can get out of the dark cycle. The book will motivate everyone to look beyond their body and share their flaws and show their self-love and self-acceptance. Lauren Minicozzi's words will encourage readers to be proud of who they are, show their cellulite, rolls, and see themselves as beautiful. Her personal story will make readers look into themselves and use their power to practice self-love. Lauren Minicozzi makes readers understand that there is nothing wrong with talking about health and mental health."
