Seeking Validation

Posted by Lauren Minicozzi on

Since I was young, I have always asked for permission, advice, answers or guidance. Whether it be what I could eat or where I should go or if I could go here. I never allowed myself to come up with my own decisions or if I did it was always dictated by what someone would say to me or swayed towards what someone would recommend for me. I felt like I didn’t know myself and felt so disconnected that others knew me better. I never realised how much I doubted myself until now.

Stop seeking validation. The answers within. If you find you are constantly searching outwards for answers, constantly seeking validation from others and struggling to trust your intuition in the fear of it being wrong, it is highlighting some internal blocks you need to address. Some internal blocks that need to be faced. Throughout life, we have been programmed to abide by society standards, constantly seek approval and follow the norm. We get programmed to become disconnected with our essence, with our instincts, with our intuition. Fear starts to control our moves and leads us to seek approval from without, instead of trusting our guides within. Why do we fail to trust ourselves? Why are we scared of failure? Failure shouldn’t be seen as a negative thing. We learn from these encounters. We grow from within. It helps shape the person we become. Stopping hiding from this voice. Stop pushing your guides down. Allow the answers to the surface and stop searching without for answers.

To think back to this, it is sad to see where my head space once was. The saddest part is I know I am not alone. So many of us continue to seek validation in the fear of being wrong. In the fear it will hold us back. In the fear there will be judgement. But where does this stem from? Why do we continue to look outwards instead of focusing inwards? Why do we doubt ourselves and place other individuals’ opinions higher than our own? Why do we give them more credit than what we give ourselves? We continue to sell ourselves short.

The answers are within.

Back yourself. Trust yourself. Remove the fear. Remove the judgement. Remove the pressure. Allow yourself to focus on the present and what you can learn from listening within. What you can learn from this journey. From your journey.
